Hello everyone! It's me Venus, posting here. This week, I'll be sharing my creations for Father's Day. Whatever pops in--- cards, mini albums, gift boxes-- as in whatever! But you know, it's a real challenge for me to make projects for guys after having done so much girly stuff. LOL.

My First Steam Punk Project
My first project is Steam Punk inspired card. The size is 5.5"x6 and is full of manly elements.

I've got dies that are seldom used, like the one I used to cut the heart..do you recognize it? It's from Sizzix Bigz! My oh my, I've been thinking of what to do with it coz it's way past Valentine's Day.  Then, I thought of covering a chipboard with printed paper, run it through the Big shot together with the die, then inked it with tea dye. The heart die has flowers with it- so I placed cogs over the flowers. I flattened the eyelets then glued them in the middle of the cogs. This is the result.....

I found the steam punk inspired paper for the BG at Scrapbook Elements Store. The paper used for the heart including the images is a freebie collage sheet from Free Vintage Digi Stamps

I had so much fun with the cogs, which I hand painted, inked, then heat embossed. I really like the antique look and as if it has been dipped in gold!

MINI TUTORIAL
How I painted the cogs: First, I painted the chipboard cog with poster color in silver. I used water to spread the paint evenly and thinly. Then, when dry, I inked it with Stazon onyx black, then Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance pearlescent green and chocolate.  Lastly, I used gold embossing powder to get that "precious metal" look.

and below is the sentiment inside the card...

Here's a list of the supplies I used:
Tim Holtz Aletrations  die - Gears
Sizzix Bigz die - Heart and flowers
Silver Poster color
TH Rangers Tea Dye ink
Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance Pearlescent green
Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance chocolate
Gold Embossing powder
Heat tool
eyelets and eyelet setter
cardstocks: gold, black, cream
DCWV stack 7
printed digi papers
hot glue

This project is my entry for:

SISTERS

Just wanna share this 8"x8" digital layout that I made featuring my sister, Luanne, and I during our childhood days.
This photo was taken by our mom. I really think that this is one of my most favorite photos of us together.
