The need to communicate is ever more important at the time COVID-19 pandemic when people are instructed to stay inside the house. We are so used to classroom lectures, closed door board meetings,  but face to face interaction and live audiences stopped at one point for safety reasons. But thanks to the latest innovation of IT geniuses, conferences with lecture presentation is now possible with Zoom , an online platform which allows a person to host meetings, trainings, technical support, marketing events, phone calls, and file sharing - as some of its features.

Speaking of file sharing, educators use Powerpoint presentation for lectures. Well, zoom allows the presenter to speak while the audience looks and follows at the presentations real time. Amazing, isn't it? Well, I personally tried Zoom by attending a meeting with colleagues. The application is downloadable to android devices at Google Play and direct to a laptop or desktop computer via Zoom website.  Once downloaded, the user is asked to sign up to create an account with an email. A personal email is required because that's where you send and receive invitations to attend an "event".  If you want to host a Zoom event, then definitely you need to know the email addresses of the people you will invite, but that's automatically in your address book, right? Zoom requires a moderate learning curve, in my experience. Once I entered the meeting, my speaker phone was not working but I managed to find buttons inside the zoom app and I was able to fix the problem.

Time came I had to be the presenter. Again, a moderate learning curve is required to share a PowerPoint Presentation in Zoom. Here's the instruction:

1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint
2. Click the Share button in Zoom.
3. In the sharing window that opens, click Microsoft PowerPoint (or the word "Screen") to select it.
4. If the presentaton includes narration, sound, or video:
       a. Check the Share computer sound box
       b. If your computer prompts you to install the Zoom audio device, do so.
5. Click the Share button
6. In PowerPoint:
    a. Switch to Slide Show mode (you won't see your notes, so better print it our beforehand.
7. Switch to zoom,  close the app by clicking the X on the upper right corner.
8. Start your presentation or talk. You can ask your viewers if your slide is visible and they can hear your audio.
9. To end the meeting, just click End the Meeting.

Hope this helps!
